Fairy Tales 2016

Act 1 | Chaos
The child stared solemnly at the wall a blank canvas beaconing back. The day was long and the floor covered in half drawn dreams. With so little experience the child struggled with each new stroke as the world looked on. Translating the many meanings and activities in the nooks and crannies around the room and beyond the bounds of the small room seemed futile as the mind was empty while the imagination was full.

Act 2 | Revolt
The rules and regulations of the world that surrounded the child slowly pushed closely inward leaving the child reaching feverishly for their unique vision. Fighting a battle against the constraints of society the child fought back with every stroke translating their innermost thoughts fluidly to the page leaving bystanders curious and in awe.

Act 3 | Metamorphosis
Today there was something different in the beings work they worked quickly as usual, however, their piece had a familiarity that couldn’t quite be placed. Their mind was full of the images and thoughts of the world around them… what could it be… Every stroke seemed as if it had been made before.

Act 4 | Demise
The years went by and every piece felt less part of itself and more part of everything else, the originality that had driven them thus far seemed to be driving itself out. Struggling to find their originality they relapsed to what was known and had worked before.. Slowly losing their unique voice and becoming one with the world around them.

Act 5 | Disillusion
Looking back to the pieces from the past there was an unmistakable rhythm to them, a procession of works that were once masterful slowly one after another becoming less and less unique calmly blending with the world around them. That day the morning was brisk and the streets were empty. Its slender form stood in the threshold, just a husk of its former self its eyes hollow and empty with only the reflection of what had come before.
